An anecdote from the autobiography of Itamar Ben-Avi, the son of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda. "The Cheeky Hebrew Man - Episodes in the Life of the First Hebrew Child" Yediot Aharonot-Hemed Books 2016.
In the chapter about his meetings with various leaders he describes a meeting with Mussolini:
At the end of the meeting Mussolini asked him: "Do you have any special requests from me?"
Itamar replied: "In order to erase forever the memory of ancient times' hostility between Rome and Judea I have one wish"
"and what is that wish?" asked Mussolini
"That your excellency would be kind enough to move the Titus Arch from Rome to Jerusalem" replied Itamar.
For a moment Mussolini was stunned, but then retorted with a spark in his eyes and a smile on his face:
"Well then, my friend Ben-Avi - come and take it!"
Well, after so many years the Shamir brothers did just that. They did not move the entire arch, but certainly returned the image of the Menorah to its rightful place.
