The pilot Shabtai Gilboa (87), who modeled for the poster "The Best for Pilots" 1962 by the Shamir brothers, passed away. Gilboa finished his service in the Air Force with the rank of colonel and moved to El Al as captain. Nov 2021

Christmas stamps by Shamir
On this page we collected some of the philatelic items designed by Shamir for a number of countries in celebration of Christmas. We are showing the Souvenir Sheets which represent their associated stamp series.

Many stamp collectors like to focus on themes rather than on countries. For the issuers of stamps the commercial considerations play a key role in deciding the theme and content of each series the issue.

Easter and Christmas are popular themes that are highly sought by collectors and so are stamps depicting great works of art. Combining the religious theme with the artistic one extends the appeal of the stamps to a wider audience.
