Over the past decade, several ministers have begun adopting private symbols instead of the state emblem. Government officials, too, have decided without authority to abandon the state emblem. The attempt by the Speaker of the Knesset to choose an innovative logo for the Knesset instead of the State emblem has been blocked by widespread public opposition.
