Souvenir sheets are a favourite item of many collectors. Usually the stamps included on the Souvenir Sheet were one or more of the stamps of the series that were issued as independent postage stamp. However, some countries would occasionally include on the Souvenir Sheet additional stamps, usually the highest value ones, that extend the series and could not be purchased independently.
The only Israeli souvenir sheet designed by Shamir was for their El-Al stamp and was issued on the same day as the stamp on 07.11.1962. While the stamp shows a Boeing 707 flying above the clouds (or the sea waves) the souvenir sheet shows a map of the world, a wind rosette and the stars of the sky.
When viewing the Shamir designed souvenir sheets you will note the broad visual expression of the topic of the stamp series in their design.
In this web-site you can find the Souvenir Sheets in two locations: Once under the Souvenir Sheet tab and a second time as an additional item with its stamp series where appropriate. We chose to do so to provide a more complete presentation of the work.
