Mystery solved
During the preparation of an article for a special issue of "Etmol" to mark the 100th anniversary of the Zionist archive, the editor sent me the edited article. One sentence surprised me: "Gabriel Shamir archived 32 posters in 1991". I remembered that I transferred my father's entire artistic estate to them in 1994 and also checked their Shamir Collection catalogue, which was published as "The private archive of the Shamir brothers artwork that was donated to the Zionist Archive by Yoram Shamir, the son of Gabriel Shamir in 1994".
In answering my query about the source of the information, the editor sent me a photo from the Zionist Archives purchase book.
Several years later, after lengthy negotiations between the Shenkar Graphic Institute and the Zionist Archives, I brought - with the help of Violet Gilboa from Harvard University - to a collaboration between the two institutions. Then it became clear to me that the Archives Authority has more Shamir posters than the onesr I submitted in 1994.
With the help of "Etmul"'s editor, the mystery was solved: In the last year of his life, Gabriel Shamir handed over to Yoram Mayorek, then director of the Zionist Archives, about a quarter of the posters he had.
